Our picnic near Veliki Tabor was one of the best picnics!

One beautiful spring day, my friends and I decided to have a picnic near Veliki Tabor Castle. We packed our bags with delicious food and set out for the castle grounds. Little did we know that this would turn out to be one of the funniest and most memorable picnics we had ever had.

As soon as we arrived at the castle, we found the perfect spot to lay out our picnic blanket. We were excited to enjoy the beautiful view and the delicious food we had brought with us. However, things did not go as planned.

First, one of my friends accidentally spilled her drink on the blanket, causing a small panic among the group. We quickly tried to dry the blanket, but it was no use. It was now stained with a large red spot. We decided to make the best of the situation and joked that we had brought our own “royal carpet” to the castle.

As we started to eat, we noticed a group of tourists approaching us. They seemed interested in what we were eating and asked if they could try some of our food. Being the friendly people that we are, we happily shared our snacks with them. Little did we know that they were not used to some of the foods we had brought, and soon they were making faces and coughing. We couldn’t help but laugh at their reactions, and they quickly apologized and walked away.

Just as we were getting ready to relax and enjoy the rest of our picnic, a group of friendly dogs appeared out of nowhere. They were quick to snatch our food, and before we knew it, they had made off with most of our lunch. We were left with just a few scraps and empty containers! But it was okay ’cause they were so damn cute and wanted us to pet them all the time! We knew from that day – if you come to Zagorje – be sure that you’ll hang out with dogs from the villages.

Despite the mishaps, we were still determined to enjoy the rest of our day at the castle. We decided to explore the grounds and take in the beautiful scenery. As we were walking, we noticed a group of people with music instruments. They also had some wine with them. Soon they started drinking and singing. Naturally, as Zagorci are – they invited us to join them – and we did. We soon found ourselves dancing to the lively tunes.

In the end, our picnic at Veliki Tabor Castle turned out to be one of the funniest and most memorable days we had ever had. We learned to laugh at ourselves and enjoy the unexpected moments that life throws our way.

And if you want a similar adventure, we can book you a trip!
