We visited Cat Caffe Zagreb a few days ago after several months of negotiations. We finally all managed to agree on when we were free. This specific and themed cafe is something we could not resist, and we believe that all cat lovers would agree with us. Cat Caffe Zagreb is located at KuÅ¡lanova 6, near Kvaternik Square or, as the people of Zagreb like to say – Kvatrić. The address of the café itself is not difficult to find, and it can be reached from the Main Station on King Tomislav Square by tram number 4, 9 or 13.Â
After you get off the tram at the station called Mašićeva, you will walk for a few more minutes and immediately see a cafe. It will be hard to miss it considering the cafe’s logo is a stylized cat’s head.
The first thing we noticed when entering the cafe was that it was entered through two doors. We assume this is to protect the cats and prevent them from escaping to the streets. As soon as we entered the space, we started looking for cats and we were not disappointed – two extremely friendly cats approached us and demanded cuddling. We have to admit that the cats occupied our attention so much for the first few minutes that we didn’t even get to look at the ambience. We immediately started playing with the cat who had the ball next to her. We handed it to her and she started biting and twisting it between her paws. We realized she was going to have fun on her own now so we got up and decided to tour the space.
The cafe is divided into several parts. In the first part facing the street there are several smaller wooden tables with plastic light blue chairs on the right, while on the left there are black chairs and a display case with various board games. In this space there is also a bar run by kind young waitresses. The entire first part of the cafe is decorated in pastel colors, and we especially liked the floor in a slightly darker pink color. Next to the tables there are “cat houses”, scratchers and bowls with food and water are placed on the floor so that cats can take what they need at any time. When we took a few more steps, we realized that themed T-shirts could also be seen in the cafe. We were particularly amused by the one: Crazy cat lady.
In the second part of the cafe we had the opportunity to see slightly wider seats decorated with various decorative pillows. Since not a single guest was sitting here, the cats crawled under the table and rested peacefully. We didn’t want to bother them so we just photographed them. The next part of the cafe was in front of us – the terrace. We decided to sit right here! We could choose between that part of the terrace and the one on the level below which we could reach by wooden stairs. As it seemed that there were more people in the lower part, we concluded that the upper terrace would be the best choice for us.
The whole terrace is fenced in with a net so that the cats can’t escape, but we have to admit that we didn’t mind at all. The decorators of the net used the space in an interesting way and placed various decorations on them, which definitely contributes to the beauty of the ambience. We strategically sat down at the table that was closest to the cat house where one cat slept and the other played. They were so beautiful that we talked for a few minutes just about how happy we are because we finally managed to come to Cat Caffe Zagreb. The waitress interrupted us to ask us what we were going to order, but she soon realized we hadn’t gotten to the menu yet, so she said she would be coming a little later. We thanked her and started looking the manu.
The cafe offers cocktails, juices, coffees, ice coffees, hot chocolates and similar drinks. Sure, the first part of the menu offers plain-looking drinks, but that’s not why we came here! We immediately switched to browsing the menu pages where we found a sensational offer – in taste, appearance and name. In order to give you a better idea of what we mean, we will introduce you to some names; Rose gold cappuccino (rose petals, rose syrup and sequins), Lavender (white hot chocolate with lavender flavor with the addition of sequins, blueberries and biscuits), Chocolate heaven (dark chocolate with whipped cream, topping and raffaello, ferrero rocher, kinder chocolate), Cheesecake (white chocolate with mascarpone cheese in layers with biscuits and syrup of choice), Caticorn hot chocolate (white hot chocolate in strawberry flavor, decorated with colorful decorations and sequins), 6 types of iced coffee and many other similar drinks.
After a long consideration of countless colorful options, we decided to order Cheesecake with caramel syrup, Rose gold coffee and Galaxy coffee. When it came to the table we were enchanted by the look of the drinks. We had to admit that we had never seen anything like this. It was truly wonderful! As for the evaluation of the taste of the drinks we ordered, the coffees were delicious, but the decoration was the most special. Cheesecake on the other hand was a real revelation! The flavors combined in this drink matched perfectly so we think we will be ordering this many more times. When it comes to prices, ordinary drinks are not more expensive than those in other Zagreb cafes. The colorful drinks we opted for are a bit more expensive, but we can’t say they are incredibly high priced.
The cats we had the opportunity to see are of different species and therefore colors and sizes. We can certainly say that we can see how much effort has been invested in their care. All cats look beautiful, their hair is shiny and they are well fed. It seems that they lack nothing here and that they take care of them with a lot of love. We were able to find out how important cats are to cafe owners when we found the rules of conduct at Cat Caffe Zagreb on the last page of the drink menu, which emphasized that cats should not be disturbed when eating or sleeping. It is also not allowed to feed them.
Now we have no choice but to honor you with photos of those cats who were ready to pose. Enjoy!
We hope we brought a smile on your face with this funny pictures of beautiful cats. And remember, if you come to Croatia – you can see them in person!
Your CTC Team, A. M.
