Šibenik’s practical travel hub—everything you need for smooth planning. On this page, you’ll find how to get to Šibenik, options for accommodation, car rental, tours, mobile internet, insurance, and more. All key tips in one place so you can focus on enjoying your trip, not endless research.

Let’s dive into the essentials you need for your trip to Šibenik with our Travel Resource for Šibenik.

🚍 How to Get There (by land & sea)

Šibenik is easy to reach by car, bus, or ferry. It sits on the main coastal road (D8) between Zadar and Split, with direct access from the A1 highway (take the Šibenik exit). Buses connect Šibenik daily with Zagreb, Split, Zadar, Dubrovnik, and other cities. The city’s main bus station is just steps from the center. While there’s no direct train, the closest rail hub is in Split. In season, Jadrolinija ferries run to nearby islands.

✈️ Flights to Šibenik

The nearest airport is Split Airport (SPU), about 60 km from Šibenik (1 hour by bus or car). SPU is well connected to major European hubs, especially in summer—direct flights come from London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Dublin, Paris, Vienna, and more. Airport shuttle buses and private transfers are available, as well as taxis and rental cars.

🏨 Where to Stay

Šibenik offers a wide range of accommodation—from hotels and boutique guesthouses in the historic center to modern apartments, budget hostels, seaside villas, and family-friendly campsites nearby. Old Town stays put you close to the main sights, while nearby resorts like Solaris are popular for beach access and pools. It’s best to book early in peak season.

🚗 Car Rental & Airport Transfers

Renting a car is easy at Split Airport or in Šibenik itself—ideal if you want to visit Krka National Park, explore coastal villages, or take a road trip to Zadar or Split. Major international and local agencies are available. Airport transfers can be booked in advance by shuttle, private transfer, or taxi.

🎟️ Tours & Experiences

Explore Šibenik’s UNESCO sites on a guided walking tour—local guides will bring the city’s rich history and hidden corners to life. Set sail on a boat trip to Kornati National Park, where a maze of islands and crystal-clear coves awaits, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and discovering untouched nature. Day trips to Krka National Park let you wander scenic wooden paths, marvel at thundering waterfalls, and even swim beneath them in summer. For food and wine lovers, Šibenik’s culinary tours and wine tastings reveal the best local flavors, from fresh seafood and peka to regional wines in family-run cellars. If you’re craving adventure, try kayaking along the coast or paddleboarding at sunset.

📶 Tourist SIM Cards & Mobile Internet

Stay connected with a local SIM—A1, bonbon, and Telemach are widely available at kiosks, shops, and the airport. For instant data, eSIMs like Airalo or Nomad are convenient and quick to activate on arrival.

🏥 Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is strongly recommended for Croatia. It covers medical emergencies, lost luggage, delays, and more—giving you peace of mind as you explore.
