Kaprije: A Tranquil Oasis in the Šibenik Archipelago

Kaprije Island lies between the uninhabited isles of Zmajan and Kaknje, a mere 15 kilometers southwest of Šibenik. Its name derives from the Mediterranean caper plant, known for its spice-worthy buds. During the 14th and 15th centuries, Kaprije was under the ownership of noble Sibenik families. From the early 16th century to the late 17th century, it served as a refuge for mainlanders escaping Turkish threats. Kaprije boasts excellent transport links with Šibenik via ferry and catamaran, making it a sought-after destination for global yacht enthusiasts.
