Dubrovnik has once again been crowned the best destination for group travel by the readers of the popular American magazine, Global Traveler. This recognition came during the 12th annual Leisure Lifestyle Awards held in Philadelphia. For the second year, Dubrovnik topped the list, proving its charm and appeal for group adventures.
Ela Urlić-Jakić from the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) in the USA proudly accepted the award on behalf of Dubrovnik. Kristjan Staničić, the director of the Croatian Tourist Board, expressed his delight at this achievement. He stated, “Awards like this show Croatia’s strong position on the world tourist map. We’re thrilled to be seen as a high-quality, attractive, and sustainable destination. Dubrovnik, our tourism champion, is leading among globally famous destinations.”
Staničić also highlighted the importance of the American market for Croatian tourism. This repeated recognition from Global Traveler readers underscores Dubrovnik’s status as a top choice for group travel. Dubrovnik offers diverse experiences that cater to various interests and preferences.
Dubrovnik took first place in its category. It was competing against renowned destinations like Italy, Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Napa Valley in California. The readers of Global Traveler also voted for the best destinations and facilities in other categories. Some of them are Best Historical Attractions, Best Adventure Destination, Best Leisure Destination and Best International Ski Destination.
“These awards are highly valued in the tourism sector because they are based solely on readers’ votes. We are thrilled that they recognized and rewarded Dubrovnik once again,” said Miroslav Drašković, director of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. “We are proud of our quality and offerings, especially in the important American market, where Dubrovnik is the most popular Croatian destination.”
Global Traveler magazine’s award ceremony shines a spotlight on the best in the travel industry. “These awards are highly valued and unbiased, based solely on readers’ votes. They reward the best in the travel sector, including tourist destinations, hotels, airlines, airports, cruises, and various travel products and services,” said Leila Krešić-Jurić, director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) Representative Office in the USA.
With more than 817,000 readers, Global Traveler is a crucial platform for connecting travel enthusiasts with destinations and travel businesses worldwide. Research indicates that its audience primarily consists of Americans with higher purchasing power.
Additionally, in the current part of the year, Americans have made 103,000 arrivals and 266,000 overnight stays in Croatia. This represents a growth of 9 percent in arrivals and 6 percent in overnight stays compared to the previous year.
