Advent Poreč 2023: A Winter Wonderland of Festivities and Community Spirit

From December 11, 2023, to January 7, 2024, Matije Gupca Square will be the venue for Advent Poreč.

This year, Poreč proudly lives up to its reputation as the most beautiful and festive Advent in Istria. Over 100 diverse events have been arranged, catering to various tastes. These include:

concerts,
plays,
the enchanting Nutcracker ballet at Žatika hall,
live nativity scenes,
a lottery hosted by the Society for the Disabled,
children’s performances,
the Advent race,
and the addition of a free ice rink,
as well as special discounts in the heart of our historic town center.

The official lighting of the festive lamps is scheduled for December 11 at 4:30 p.m., announced by Mr. Peršurić.

A joint community effort has once again been made to organize this event. It invloves schools, kindergartens, clubs, associations and institutions. Also key partners such as the Tourist Board, Blue Lagoon, and Valamar. The local community’s enthusiasm and engagement are highly appreciated, making Poreč a vibrant winter destination. The event has a distinct local touch, featuring homegrown talent, bands, associations, schools, kindergartens, and local eateries. The Parish of Poreč and fellow residents are also contributing their time to stage a live nativity scene on December 17 at 5 p.m.

A Magical Celebration of Tradition, Music, and Community

The Poreč fairy tale program features the tradition of gift-giving and performances. All that for over 1,700 Poreč children. Gifts will be distributed to all children in Poreč, from ages 1 to the 4th grade of primary school.
Notable artists including Petar Grašo, Jole, Nina Badrić, Night Express, Gustafi, Cambi, Marko Tolja, and others will be featured in the festivities.
Four New Year’s celebrations are scheduled in Poreč. A grand welcome by Petar Grašo on Trg slobode and a simultaneous party with DJ David on Trg Matija Gupca. Also, there will be a traditional children’s New Year’s party. It will feature animation and fireworks, and the customary Night Express event on January 1st.

A thrilling addition this year is the performance of “The Nutcracker,” one of the world’s most beautiful ballets on December 23. The event promises an unforgettable experience with a impressive production and enchanting music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Tickets are available for purchase at hr for a special promotional price of 10 euros.
From December 9 to 23, Poreč Agrolaguna will join Poreč Advent, offering fitting programs during the weekends. It will be located in front of the Festigia tasting room.

Winter Fun in Poreč: Ice Skating, Charity Race, and More!

Once again, Advent in Poreč brings a genuine winter ambiance to Poreč, complete with the delightful ice rink. It will be open throughout the Advent season until January 7, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. What’s even more delightful is that both skating and equipment rentals are entirely free. In addition to this, the long-standing tradition of ‘Sweet Morning’ is set to continue. There is also a complimentary Christmas morning brunch, where citizens can enjoy socializing with the mayor.

This year, the charitable Advent race returns on December 23. All proceeds will be directed toward the Center for Inclusion and Support in the Poreč Community.
