Cowboy Ranch is a captivating family retreat nestled amidst the wooded slopes of Vukomeričke gorice – only 10 minutes from Zagreb. It’s like stepping into the Wild West of our childhood dreams. Owned by the Delić family, this ranch brings fantasies to life, with magnificent horses adding to the enchantment. Surrounded by untouched nature, the ranch is decked out in cowboy style with nods to Indian culture. Overseeing it all is a charming wooden house hosting a fantastic restaurant, making it a beloved weekend escape for many.
The owners, Draženka and Darko, share a deep love for nature, horses, and good food, which led them to create a space dedicated to relaxation and enjoyment. Their beautifully decorated property, a verdant oasis on the city’s edge, is where country music fills the air every day. And if you’re hungry, you’re in luck! The ranch offers a mouthwatering selection of barbecue, hamburgers, Tex-Mex specialties, and even vegetarian options – catering to all tastes, even those of vegetarian cowboys.
Getting to Cowboy Ranch is easy whether you have a car or not. If you’re driving, it’s just a 10-15 minute drive from Zagrebački Buzin. But if you don’t have your car, don’t worry! You can always hop on bus number 166 heading towards D.Drgonožec in the direction of Markuševac. From Vatican station, it’s about a 20-minute ride (14 stops) to Markuševec station. Once you’re there, it’s just a minute’s walk until you spot the sign welcoming you to Cowboy Ranch.
As soon as you step into this peaceful oasis, you’ll understand why it’s so popular. On your left, you’ll see where the horses live. On the right, there’s a spacious parking area for guests. Finding a spot to park won’t be a problem at all.
Before entering the ranch, take a moment to admire the beautiful and graceful horses grazing and wandering nearby. They’re quite used to people and aren’t shy at all. Some of them may even come up to the fence to say hello, giving you the perfect opportunity to snap some great photos right away. However, it’s important to note that there are strict rules against feeding the horses posted on the fence at several points.
When you first step onto the property, one of the most interesting things you’ll notice is a big iron cage labeled “Jail,” just like in cowboy movies. And yes, you can go inside the “Jail” and take some fun photos. Right from the entrance, you’ll spot a lovely restaurant and terrace, perfect for relaxing after exploring the ranch. And if you’re just looking for a quick refreshment, there’s a casual outdoor cafe where you can grab a drink and find a seat at one of the tables.
On this visit, we decided to skip the drinks and head straight to check out Cowboy Ranch. It was a sunny day, so we enjoyed the lush green surroundings, and the horses we saw seemed to be in a great mood. We noticed a girl riding a horse in the riding area, and it was a beautiful sight, so we went closer to watch her.
Apart from horseback riding and delicious food, we also loved the various activities offered by the part of the ranch located in the forest. Behind the outdoor cafe, there’s a place with sports activities mainly for kids, but we decided to give it a try too! If you’re not into sports or climbing, there’s a more secluded area designed like a saloon. Here, you’ll find tables and chairs that will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to the Wild West era.
And don’t forget, walking along the forest paths is a great chance to snap some photos that your friends and followers will surely love.
As we checked out the menu at Cowboy Ranch, we couldn’t help but get excited about all the delicious choices. We ended up ordering quite a few dishes, and some stood out as top picks for anyone visiting for the first time. So, here are a few tasty recommendations that we think you’ll love trying at Cowboy Ranch.
