Save this page for a seamless visit to one of Croatia’s most stunning national treasures, famous for its waterfalls, trails, and cultural heritage.
Let’s dive into the essentials you need for your adventure with our Travel Resource for Krka National Park.
Krka National Park lies in central Dalmatia, near Šibenik, and has several main entrances: Lozovac, Skradin, Roški Slap, Burnum/Puljane, Kistanje, and Krka Monastery.
Visitors can also reach Skradinski Buk by boat from Skradin, included in the entrance ticket during the main season. Public buses connect Šibenik, Skradin, and nearby towns. Driving remains the most flexible option, especially if you plan to explore different entrances.
The nearest airport is Split Airport (SPU), about 55 km from Lozovac. Zadar Airport (ZAD) is also close, about 75 km away. Both airports offer direct connections to many European cities, especially in summer. Transfers, rental cars, and shuttle services are available at both airports.
You can’t stay overnight inside Krka National Park, but plenty of options are nearby:
Book early in summer, as accommodations near Skradin and Šibenik fill quickly.
Renting a car is the best way to explore multiple entrances and hidden parts of the park. Car rentals are available at Split and Zadar airports, as well as in Šibenik and Zadar city centers. Private transfers and taxis can be arranged if you prefer not to drive.
Krka offers much more than waterfalls. Popular activities include:
Skradinski Buk – wooden walkways and terraced cascades. Roški Slap – cascades and scenic surroundings, accessible by boat and trail. Visovac Island – home to a Franciscan monastery and museum, reachable by boat. Burnum Archaeological Site – Roman military camp with amphitheater remains, accessible via Puljane entrance. Educational Hiking Trails – three official routes: Roman Road (630 m), Brljan to Manojlovac (910 m), and Perica trail (1,800 m). Together they form part of the park’s 47 km of marked hiking trails.
Stay connected easily. Prepaid SIM cards from A1, Hrvatski Telekom, or Telemach are available at airports, kiosks, and shops in Šibenik and Skradin. eSIM providers like Airalo offer instant setup if you prefer digital solutions. Coverage within the park is generally good, although some canyon areas may experience a weak signal.
Travel insurance is recommended when visiting Croatia. It covers health emergencies, lost baggage, and trip delays. For Krka, choose a plan that includes outdoor activities and day trips.

Krka National Park is best visited in spring or autumn for pleasant hiking and fewer crowds. Summer brings peak numbers, so arrive early or late in the day. Note: Swimming is no longer allowed at Skradinski Buk, but walking trails, boat tours, and cultural sites make the park unforgettable. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water, and allow a full day to explore.
