For more challenging ones, there’s Vršina – Perunsko, along Perun’s summit ridge, Mura – Mutogras, an extreme downhill trail, and Put maslinika, a demanding trail from Gornja Podstrana to the sea. …the Path to the Source and the Path to Gornja Podstrana via Babina Stina. The Path to the Source is a pleasant walkway along the river, starting at the mouth and ending at Pete Perun, where you’ll find Antoničin mlin, a scenic spot in Žrnovnica. Recently, this riverside promenade was spruced up with new facilities, stretching about 4 km in total. It’s an easy stroll that showcases the natural beauty and local attractions of the area.
As you leave the coast and venture deeper into Perun’s hinterland, you’ll notice a change in the landscape. This path holds cultural and ritual significance from the early centuries of Croatian history in the Perun hill and its surroundings. The path winding around Pete Perun and Antoniča’s mill, a popular picnic area with the only restored mill on the Žrnovnica river, served as locations in the famous Game of Thrones series.
The other path, starting near the Petričevo playground on the main road, spans about 3.5 km. It leads from the playground along Mile Gojsalića Street toward the cemetery. After that, along Težačka Street, heading east toward Babina Stina. From there, it climbs (partly on gravel, partly on a hiking trail) toward Gornja Podstrana.
Along the way, you’ll reach the rock in Gračina, revealing a story from ancient times when Neolithic people honored megaliths as symbols of the “Great Mother” or “Grandma”. Babina Stina is often found near water sources or streams, with the Kapljuč spring located about half a kilometer away. According to legend, the rock magically grew from a pebble that fell from an old woman’s apron as she took a nap there. This tale is still cherished in local folklore.
