Ugljan Island is on the verge of a thrilling transformation as it welcomes a significant new Hilton hotel investment. It is soon getting its second luxury hotel in just two years, and this one will be part of the Hilton hotel chain. Although Hilton hasn’t officially presented the project yet, there’s exciting news. A company called Preko d.o.o., owned by the HOK insurance group, is investing 12 million euros in a new hotel.
This new hotel will be built on a 3,600 square meter plot where the old Preko hotel used to stand. It has been demolished to make way for this exciting project. The investors plan to get some financial support from the National Plan for Recovery and Resilience. That is possible because the project was approved by the Ministry of Tourism earlier this summer.
The Preko company is behind this, and it includes the Nauta Lamjana overhaul shipyard and the Preko Marina. The director, Željko Dilber, has confirmed that the project has been approved. They’ve got the building permit, and work should start soon as they’re currently looking for a contractor. By the way, this will be the second luxury hotel in Preko, with the 4-star family heritage hotel Dunatovi dvori opening last spring.
The new Hilton will feature 65 beautifully designed rooms, a swimming pool, a restaurant, and all the other amenities you’d expect.
What’s even more exciting is that this future hotel will be part of the Hilton franchise and the HOK insurance portfolio, just like the other three Hilton-branded hotels. Last week, the investors met with the municipality and marina representatives to discuss this upcoming project.
The mayor of Preko municipality, Jure Brižić, emphasized the significance of this project for the entire island of Ugljan. He sees it as a major step towards a brighter future for tourism on the island, something that’s been missing for a while. Hotels play a crucial role in boosting tourism and the island’s development. This new Hilton hotel is set to do just that.
